Can you set a preferred method of contact for participants?

For participants added from your library, you can’t manually set a preferred contact method.

AskYourTeam uses an email-first approach, meaning the platform automatically selects the contact method based on the information available.

The hierarchy is:

  1. Email: Used if an email address is provided.
  2. Mobile (SMS): Used if no email address is available but a mobile number is provided.
  3. Passcode: Used if neither an email nor a mobile number is available.

If you want a participant to use a specific method (for example, to make them a passcode participant), you’ll need to remove the other contact details.

To do this, make a note of what status your survey is in:

  • For draft and pending surveys: You can make changes straight into the participant library and they will pull through to your survey.
  • For active surveys: You will need to make changes straight into your survey, in the Participants step. These changes will not sync with the participant library.
