Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), also known as Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), provides users and organisations with an extra level of security when using AskYourTeam.
How to set up MFA for a user
MFA can be set up by Account Managers within your organisation. To set up MFA, the user needs to be with you and have their mobile phone.
When you're ready, follow the step-by-step instructions:
- Go to My Organisation and select the Multi-Factor Authentication tab
- You will see a list of users for your organisation. Find the user you want to enable MFA for and select Set MFA. This will generate a QR code.
- The user then needs to:
- Download the Google Authenticator app on their mobile phone.
- Within the app select the '+' button to add a new account.
- Select Scan barcode.
- Scan the QR code shown onscreen.
The unique QR code will disappear as soon as you close out of the box. A new code can be created by selecting Revoke MFA and then Set MFA.
Logging in with MFA
- Login to AskYourTeam as you normally would.
- After entering your username and password, it will prompt you for an MFA code.
- Open the Google Authenticator app on your phone.
- Enter the 6-digit code. These codes expire quickly, so it's a good idea to have the website waiting for the code before opening the app.
