Manage topics for the Text Analysis Report

Manage topics is a feature available to Account Managers. It allows you to make bulk changes to the topics comments are tagged with. These changes are applied at the question level which means they're only applied to comments that belong to the question you've selected.

You can use Manage topics to rename or remove topics.

Rename a topic

You might want to rename a topic to align with how your organisation names things.

To rename a topic:

Go to your survey's reports and select Text Analysis.
Select the question you want to view comments for.
Select the Manage topics button. This will open a modal showing the list of topics currently assigned to comments.
Find the topic you want to rename and type into the field.
Select Save. Your changes will be applied instantly unless your question has 1,000+ comments. In that situation, it may take a few seconds.

When you rename a topic, it will replace all instances of the existing topic name.

⚠️ Do you need to regenerate summaries? When you rename a topic, this will affect the topic and question summaries generated by AI. We'll prompt you to regenerate these summaries when you or someone else from your organisation makes changes to topics.

AI summaries are a limited-release feature.

Remove a topic

To remove a topic:

Go to your survey's reports and select Text Analysis.
Select the question you want to view comments for.
Select the Manage topics button. This will open a modal showing the list of topics currently assigned to comments.
Find the topic you want to remove and select the circle-dash icon next to it.
Select Save. Your changes will be applied instantly unless your question has 1,000+ comments. In that situation, it may take a few seconds.

When you delete a topic, it will be removed from all comments currently tagged with it, and it will no longer show in your topic list when you select Manage topics. This action can't be undone.

Merge topics

If you think there are two or more similar topics, you can merge them into one.

To do this:

Go to your survey's reports and select Text Analysis.
Select the question you want to view comments for.
Select the Manage topics button. This will open a modal showing the list of topics currently assigned to comments.
Make sure the topics you want to merge all have the same name.
Select Save.
