Understanding who a People Leader can see

When you set up automated permissions, AskYourTeam shows you exactly whose responses each People Leader will see. This appears in two places: an audience line on the Demographics section, and a Summary at the bottom of the screen. This article explains how to read them.

The audience line

When you edit a People Leader, a line at the top of the Demographics section describes who they will see, for example:

"[Name] will see responses from 24 of 120 participants (8 direct reports + 16 indirect reports)."

• Direct reports are the people who report straight to that leader.
• Indirect reports are everyone further down their reporting line.
• If you give the leader extra access (for example another team), the line includes those as "additional from selected demographics".

When a leader will not see results

If a leader has no one in their reporting line who has taken the survey, you will see a warning, for example:

"No participants in [name]'s reporting line have completed this survey, so [name] won't see any results."

This usually means the leader has no direct or indirect reports in this survey, or none of them have responded yet. You can give them access to another group if appropriate.

Full access

If you turn on Give full access to all participants, the line confirms the leader can see everyone:

"[Name] will see responses from all 120 participants (full access enabled)."

The Summary

At the bottom of the screen, the Summary brings everything together:

• who the leader will see (the same audience line),
• a short summary of what you have selected (filters, reports and questions),
• a reminder that access is not switched on until you enable or invite them.
