How to apply filters when comparing surveys

You can apply demographic filters to the reports in the Compare section of AskYourTeam. These filters need to be applied to each individual survey you're comparing. You can't apply one filter across all surveys.

Example #1

You want to compare how the department 'Technology' responded across the Have Your Say 2023 and Have Your Say 2024 surveys.

To do this, you need to:

  • Select the Have Your Say 2023 survey and apply the filter Department > Technology.

    AND

  • Select the Have Your Say 2024 and apply the filter Department > Technology.

Usually, you will want to use the exact same demographic to ensure you're comparing apples to apples. However, in the following example, you may need to apply different filters.

Example #2

You want to compare how the department 'Technology' responded across the Have Your Say 2023 and Have Your Say 2024 surveys. However, the Technology team split into two teams at the end of 2023: 'Rapid Response' and 'Platform Development'.

To compare these demographics, you need to:

  • Select the Have Your Say 2023 survey and apply the filter Department > Technology.
  • AND
  • Select the Have Your Say 2024 and apply the filters Department > Rapid Response, Department > Platform Development.

To apply demographics in the Compare section:

  1. Select Compare from the left menu.
  2. Select the surveys you want to compare.
  3. Select the Reports tab and then Apply demographic filters.
  4. Select a survey in the modal. Then select the demographic category and option(s).

    (Demographic category is the top-level grouping like 'Department'; a demographic option would be something like 'Finance' or 'Technology')

  5. Repeat the process for the other surveys.
  6. Select See results.

💡Did you know? Only users with full access to view results can apply demographic filters. Any Report Viewers with limited access will not see the Apply demographic filters button.

How to clear demographic filters

To clear demographic filters in the Compare section:

  1. Select Apply demographic filters.
  2. Select Clear filters on the survey you want to clear filters from.

How do I know if filters are applied?

When filters are applied, each survey name will show above the report in a red box. Select a red box to view which filters have been applied to each survey.
