How do I compare surveys?
Once you've run two or more surveys, we recommend comparing the results to see how they've changed over time and measure the impact of any actions you've taken.
You can compare your surveys by selecting:
- Compare section from the left menu, or
- Compare surveys within a survey's reports.
From within the Compare section:
- Select up to 5 surveys to compare. This is the maximum you can compare at one time.
- Select Next.
- You’ll land on Match questions, which displays the Agree–Disagree, Yes-No and 0-10 questions from each survey. Only these question types can currently be compared. Review which questions were matched and if you need to make any changes.
💡Did you know?
Questions are matched when they either:
- share the same AskYourTeam question ID, or
- have an exact text match with a question from another selected survey.
- If you need to override or edit a match, simply select the question to expand the drop-down and choose a different one.
- Next, select Build Reports to explore how scores have changed over time. If you’re an Account Manager and made any changes to matched questions, you’ll be prompted to save them. This makes it easier for you and your team to reuse the updated matches in future reports.
Reports you can use for comparing surveys
You will see up to three reports in this section, depending on your permissions:
Compare: Question Report
This is similar to the Questions Report, except that you will now see scores for all surveys that you have selected. The newest score will be at the top. If there has been a positive gain, you will see a plus in front of the difference, e.g. +14, and if the new score is lower than the original, you'll see a minus in front of the difference, e.g. -7.
Compare: Over Time Report
This shows your journey over time as a line graph. You can view results by average (overall average score for all matched agree-disagree scale questions), category, or question.
Compare: Heatmap
This is similar to the Heatmap Report, except it shows how scores have changed between surveys for specific groups of people.
💡Did you know? The Heatmap Report can only compare two surveys at a time. Other reports in the compare section can compare up to five surveys.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I change which surveys to compare?
You can select Reselect surveys in the top navigation at any time within Compare. This will allow you to select different survey combinations.
Keep in mind that permissions will be applied. You will only be able to select and compare surveys you have permission to view.
Who can change and save matched questions?
Account Managers and Survey Administrators can change which questions are matched and save those changes for themselves and anyone else on the team who has access to the Compare section.
Report Viewers can also change question matches, but they can’t save their changes. If they refresh the page, log out, or return later, the matches will reset to the system’s default suggestions.
